‘days with my father’

Given that this blog was created not only to provide an outlet for my own work, but to also try and explore other photographers and their works which move me, I’m posting a link to a really moving story about the final days spent with an aging father. It’s not very long, and the text is minimal, but the images and story together emote a stronger feeling of love than anything that I have seen in a while.

It feels superficial to comment too much on the photography of Philip Toledano after having just read through the photojournal, but pay attention to the use of muted colors, soft light, and depth of field. They were used intentionally to create an atmosphere through which this story was told. All these factors together definitely adds to the effectiveness of the pictures individually and the set at a whole.

Beautiful work overall. It does seem like a dream, doesn’t it?
